The Swedes want to achieve by the end of 2017 a large-scale test, where they will attend no less than 100 autonomous cars Volvo.
The implementation of the project called "Drive Me" will be attended by both automobile manufacturer Volvo and The Swedish Transport Agency, transport, Lindholmen Science Park as well as local leadership in Gothenburg. Set the autopilot, the machines will go through on a daily basis at a distance of 50 kilometres, under the same conditions on public roads, secondary roads, and some portions of Highway.
The project will be set in motion in 2014, as a first step being tested new technologies and customer needs, and later, after what will be "commissioned" UI system, the Swedes will be developed early prototypes that will go into series production.
So Volvo aims to build the first fully autonomous cars that can cope with any scenario in road traffic, without the driver's intervention.
